This office renovation project was initiated in response to the owner's intention to develop a more suitable and contemporary workplace that aligns with current working lifestyles and evolving functional requirements. The design approach emphasizes the use of wood as the primary material, reflecting the owner's timber trading business and extensive collection of various wood species. The renovation aims to showcase the potential and beauty of wood as a material for interior finishes and custom furniture, demonstrating its aesthetic and practical value within a modern workspace.
The design concept focuses on revealing the natural colors, textures, and grain patterns of wood through the principle of Material Honesty, allowing the inherent qualities of the material to become a key element of the architectural expression. At the same time, the design seeks to reinterpret traditional woodworking in a contemporary manner, creating a functional, efficient, and visually appealing working environment.
As the project functions as a Home Office, the owner requires a variety of interconnected spaces that accommodate both work and everyday living. These include office areas, dining spaces, and living areas that seamlessly integrate with one another. The design therefore emphasizes spatial continuity and flexibility, enabling a balanced relationship between professional and personal activities while effectively responding to contemporary patterns of use.
